The IEEE Computer Society hosted a lecture aimed at introducing new users to the concepts and philosophy of Linux. The benefits of using Linux are clear: it's free, easy, stable, and the experience looks great on your resume. Linux has also evolved into a user friendly platform and can now be effortlessly installed in less than half an hour (see Ubuntu).
